Correlation of Pavement Distress and Roughness Measurement

Riyadh City established and implemented a Pavement Maintenance Management System (PMMS) through the General Directorate of operation. The system was created to address difficulties that come with maintaining reserving pavement network. To evaluate conditions, uses visual checks, structural capacity roughness, skid resistance. An Urban Distress Index (UDI) is calculated during assessment process. Distressed types, severity, quantity are taken into account when calculating UDI values. As result, procedure gathers extensive data on pavement’s condition. However, time-consuming very costly. Automatic Road Analyzer car provides road roughness in accordance International Roughness (IRI). IRI often generated quite quickly at cheap cost as compared distress survey. This study’s aim examine whether sample city sections can be connected depending type. research develops statistical models correlate values several distress-types associated roadway classes. Correlating type will eliminate necessity implement manual inspection network- level. saves money time for PMMS employees preparing annual maintenance requirements setting priorities. finding study, relationship between distresses showed statistically significant some ride-quality distresses, like depression patching, well non-ride quality potholes rutting. In addition, both main secondary streets, an analysis variance shows existence correlation two variables.
